Lambotte (fl. 1860s-1870s). From Les Promenades de Paris, by Jean Charles Adolphe Alphand (1817-1891), published in Paris between 1867 and 1873. The work contains illustrations of a variety of aspects of the French capital, including views of historic Parisian gardens and portraits of some of the plants cultivated in them. [Plate 48]

Hand-coloured printed lithograph entitled Camelia (Camellia) japonica, lithographed by Charles Joseph Hullmandel (1789-1850) after an original by Valentine Bartholomew (1799-1879). From Bartholomew's A Selection of Flowers Adapted Principally for Students, published in London by R. Ackermann in 1821-1822. Bartholomew's book includes 36 hand-coloured lithographs and is one of the first works to employ lithography for botanical illustration. Plate [25]
