Watercolour on paper of Tulipa Duck, Tulipa Lack, Tulipa cultivar and Tulipa sylvestris from Verzameling van Bloemen naar de Natuur geteekend door (Collection of flowers drawn from nature) by Pieter van Kouwenhoorn. Dating from c.1630s this leather-bound album contains 46 paintings probably prepared for publication as many plant names are given in Latin, French and German. Kouwenhoorn was a glass painter working in Haarlem and Leiden in the Netherlands and was one of the masters of the painter Gerard Dou (1613-1675)

Watercolour of Rosa Nymphenburg, Rosa moyesii, Rosa Penelope, Rosa filipes Kiftsgate, Rosa rugosa and Rosa Ormiston Roy by Graham Stuart Thomas. Thomas was a partner at Sunningdale Nurseries in the mid 1940s and Gardens Advisor to the National Trust from 1955. In the 1960s he was awarded the Veitch Memorial Medal and the Victoria Medal of Honour. Appointed OBE in 1975, G.S.Thomas is recognised as a horticulturalist, rosarian, writer and artist
